With the support of its local and regional partners, the European Union Center organizes and sponsors various educational and outreach activities amd programs for the University as well as local and regional communities to promote a better understanding of the European Union and the transatlantic relationship. These activities and programs include scholarly symposia and conferences; K-12 educational workshops for teachers; educational programs for students in college, junior college, and grades 6-12; regional business seminars; community lectures; and panel discussions open to the public.
Working closely with the Houston Consular Corps, educational and academic groups, and others in the wider community and beyond, the EUC offers the community abd students in particular an opportunity to interact with policy makers, civil servants, and experts at Texas A&M University and in the region.
Working closely with the academic colleges, the EUC supports a number of curriculum development and enhancement initiatives at Texas A&M University, among them: the Transatlantic Studies Program, a faculty-led study abroad program in partnership with the George Bush School of Government and Public Service; the development of a new PhD program in the Department of European and Classical Languages and Cultures in the College of Liberal Arts; an International Education Graduate Certificate in College of Education and Human Development; and a Global Veterinary Leadership Program in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Also with the support of the EUC, two colleges have now established as part of their regular curriculum undergraduate certificate programs. The Undergraduate Certificate in EU Politics in the College of Liberal Arts, and the Undergraduate Certificate Program in EU Business in the Mays Business School.
